Messe Wien Exhibition & Congress Center

With the green light for the new building of the convention center in Vienna’s Leopoldstadt in spring 2000, the city of Vienna laid the foundation for the development of a new hotspot in the nation’s capital. On 15 hectares in the Vienna Prater, new infrastructure was created with an investment of 200 million Euros over a construction period of two and a half years that was indispensable for a modern conference and convention business.

Vienna – city of expositions

Messe Wien Neu, planned under the direction of Viennese architect Gustav Peichl, was officially opened on January 14, 2004 by former Federal President Dr. Thomas Klestil.

On 70,000 m2 of exhibition surface, hundreds of events with a total of around 7,000 exhibitors and more than 870,000 visitors takes place here each year. With this new convention center, Vienna has positioned itself as one of Europe’s leading exposition cities and increasingly serves as a hub for business contacts among the new EU member nations.
