EURO 2016 Public Viewing & Donauinselfest
Whole Vienna is crazy about Football EM in France!
On Saturday, June 4th 2016, Austria's National Footballteam plays its last friendly match (against the Netherlands in Wiener Prater) before starting at UEFA Euro 2016 in France. The Tournament with Austrian stars like David Alaba, Marko Arnautovic and sympathic coach Marcel Koller starts on 10th of June and ends with the final on July 10th 2016.
Austrias oppenents in group stage are:
- HUNGARY (June 14th 2016 at 6 p.m.)
- PORTUGAL (June 18th 2016 at 9 p.m.)
- ICELAND (June 22th 2016 at 6 p.m.)

Public Viewing of EURO 2016 at "Rathausplatz"
Just 15 minutes away from our hotel, you will find Viennas biggest Public Viewing Area showing the European Mastership of Football 2016 in France.You just have to go 2 mins to subway station "Praterstern" and then take the U2-line in direction "Karlsplatz" - exit at "Rathaus" and you are there 10 minutes later. At "Rathausplatz" - german name for the big place in front of Viennas town hall, you will find a LED screen as huge as 100 m² that will also give a good view at daylight. It will show all games of the big soccer tournament.The city of Vienna will guaranty for best security during the whole tournament by many strict actions. Around the whole area there will be a fence, on every point of all 3 entries security personal will check entering persons and their package. Please be aware that they won't allow some objects that could endanger the security. As an example flagpoles are prohibited and you can just enter with opened cans or plastic bottles without covers.
Per day, the hosts expect about 25.000 visitors that will be satisfied by 28 gastronomy businesses with food and drinks.
On days where no games are planned, the area will also be opened to give a warm up for "Film Festival" in Vienna (starting on 4th of july). The screen will show records of good concerts that took place in the past.

„5th Science Fiction Day“ - 250 years of Prater in Vienna
About 200 science fiction fans will participate at a parade at "Wiener Prater", a famous amusement park in Vienna - close to our hotel.
You will see many customed people, for example two official austrian star wars fanclubs will join the event on 11th of June 2016.The highlight will be a fight with lightsabers at "Riesenradplatz". There will also be a tombola, a photo-station and a make-up station for children, collecting money for charity.
Boat trips at full moon & a sky lantern event
On June 17th 2016, an event called "lantern-rain" will take place at New Danube in Vienna. You will see hundreds of sky laterns rising in the night sky of our beautiful city. All information will follow in this facebook event.
At Old Danube many operators of boat rental services will extend their opening times for an unique event called "Vollmondfahrten". For example on June 20th 2016, when the full moon is shining on beautiful water of Old Danube - you can rent an electric boat in the night and get a bottle of prosecco for your romantic tour during full moon. Donauinselfest 2016
It is the biggest open-air festival of Europe and takes place on the weekend of June 24th to June 26th 2016. On the official website you can get an overview about all music acts of the event.
There will be 12 stages on an area of 4,5 kilometres - offering more than 600 hours of entertaining program.
