I am Lorenzo, originally Italian, but I have been living in German-speaking countries for a long time, in Vienna since 2019, where I was able to discover the magic of the ‘Christkindlmärkte’ myself. I will take you on a little journey through my favourite market in this special time: the Art Advent Market Karlsplatz.

How do you get there from the hotel? Simply take the U1 underground line from the hotel to the station Karlsplatz and take the Resselpark exit. You're already there.
The Advent market on Karlsplatz is located between the first and fourth districts of Vienna and is one of the coolest and most child-friendly Christmas markets in the city. There is so much for children to experience here! The little ones will find a trolley express, a carousel, children's craft courses and workshops! This Christmas market is also an absolute highlight for adults. Most of the sales huts here are filled with very special and charming handicrafts from master craftspeople, making the range on offer simply huge and incredibly varied. The eyes alone could be satisfied and happy.
Master craftsmen and happy faces
Personally, I find it very fascinating to walk around the round Karlsplatz again and again. The square slowly fills up with people who you can see are happy and who absorb the energy that the market exudes. You can feel the authentic Christmas spirit, created not through consumption but through the conscious appreciation of magic and handicrafts. You can feel that people bring a lot of life and imagination to the place.
The tradition
The market has a stimulating and modern design, with modern munsters and motifs often coming together and, thanks to the large number of kiosk huts, the offer is so rich and colourful that you could sometimes forget about the inner light that drives everything. In contrast, you will find many charming and traditional handicrafts. Everyone will find something for themselves or their loved ones. There are creative and original gifts for Christmas.
The culinary arts
In addition to the many stalls offering food for the eyes and the soul, you can treat yourself to a break at the numerous food stalls. There are classics that offer a feeling of cosiness and nostalgia during this wintry time. Roasted almonds, hot chestnuts, Kässpätzle, oven potatoes, sweet cups... savour it!
Punch and mulled wine
No real Christmas market could give us that warm and delicious feeling without punch and mulled wine! At the Art Advent Market on Karlsplatz, there are numerous stalls serving punch and many different hot delicacies. But the mood of the staff behind the counter is also particularly good and that gives me personally a lovely feeling that my friends and I can take home with us and enjoy for a long time to come.
